Before getting remedē, how did central sleep apnea affect your daily life?
“I was on CPAP for about 4 years, but my wife still noticed I would wake up at night and my heart would be pounding. I was not breathing well at night.”
Thomas, remedē patient since 2014
“Before getting the remedē System, Glenn’s central sleep apnea would keep me awake. I would frequently notice he had stopped breathing. I would lie next to him, waiting to hear his next breath.”
Susan, Spouse of Glenn, remedē patient since 2014
“It got to the point where it was taking me all day long to get done what I used to get done before breakfast.”
Roger, remedē patient since 2014
“The toughest part was the mental part.”
Larry, remedē patient since 2020
How was recovery from the remedē procedure?
“I had previously received a cardiac device and this was very similar to that. I went home from the hospital the same day. I wasn’t supposed to lift my arms above my head for a couple weeks but after that it was fine.”
Bob, remedē patient since 2014
“I stayed overnight after the operation and went home the next day. I was getting up and moving by the time I got home. It took about 7-10 days to fully get back to my normal routine after the operation, but it was never painful.”
Thomas, remedē patient since 2014
What was it like getting accustomed to remedē?
”I adjusted really smoothly and easily. Generally, I get off to sleep before the therapy comes on, so I am not even aware of it, which is pretty amazing. I usually just roll over if I feel the therapy start up before I am asleep. Rolling over turns off the device for a few minutes and delays the therapy until I am asleep.”
Glenn, remedē patient since 2014
“At this point, it just feels normal. When I first started using the remedē System, the hardest part was just letting it work. The best thing to do is just let it do its thing and not try to override it. It took a little bit of getting used to, but now I sleep very well.”
Thomas, remedē patient since 2014
“At first I noticed it but once it was tailored to me, I didn’t feel it anymore. I am now used to it and don’t notice it at all.”
Bob, remedē patient since 2014
What does remedē therapy feel like?
”The first time I felt the stimulation it felt a little different, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. The breath itself felt natural, but it was a different sensation to know the device was telling my body when to breathe. I just relaxed and let it work.”
Glenn, remedē patient since 2014
“At first I could feel it. I tend to breathe more slowly so the device needed to be tailored for me. I let them know what I was feeling and they reprogrammed the device for me. Now, I don’t even notice it.”
Bob, remedē patient since 2014
“Being a singer, when you take a deep breath…you feel that feeling. It feels actually…good. When the remedē comes on, it moves your diaphragm, very similar to what a singer does…”
CJ, remedē patient since 2021
Describe your remedē therapy optimization process.
”I just can’t say enough about communication between your technician and your doctor. I actually would take notes sometimes at night…so I would have something to report next time I saw [my doctor].”
CJ, remedē patient since 2021
“I had a couple adjustments. Once we really communicated how I felt…it smoothed everything out and it became very natural.”
Roger, remedē patient since 2014
How has remedē affected your daily life?
”Generally, I feel much better and much more rested…I used to have to drink a lot of caffeine to stay alert during the day. Now I drink mostly decaf!”
Glenn, remedē patient since 2014
“I didn’t realize how tired I was until after receiving the device. I thought I was tired because of my heart failure. I didn’t realize it was because I had central sleep apnea. After getting the device I found I could do things that I couldn’t before because I had more energy.”
Bob, remedē patient since 2014
“It has been a life changing device for me and my family. It’s given their dad back to them.”
Alex, remedē patient since 2015
What impact has remedē had on those around you?
”To see Glenn now, he’s not tired like he used to be. He is sharper mentally and has more energy during the day. I don’t worry about him when he’s driving. It is very reassuring when I wake up and can hear him breathing at night.”
Susan, Spouse of Glenn, remedē patient since 2014
“My neighbors have commented that I look better. My boss – one morning when I came chipper and energetic – he was dumbfounded. He said ‘Oh my gosh, did you sleep last night?!’”
CJ, remedē patient since 2021
What activities have you been able to do since getting remedē?
”Enabling me to socialize a whole lot more than I have in the past. I’m an easier person to get a long with, a more pleasant person, a funnier person. I’ve got more stamina in socializing than I have before.”
Larry, remedē patient since 2020
“We are outdoor people. Physically I could not do the activities we like to do…A few weeks ago, I did the 2 miles around Lake Estes. I couldn’t have done that until just recently.”
CJ, remedē patient since 2021
“The remedē System has given us another chance…to be able to do things. Camping, fishing, walking, yardwork…on and on.”
Alex, remedē patient since 2015
What advice would you give someone who is considering remedē?
”The quality of life that is restored is unbelievable. It is, by far, a life-changing event to be yourself again.”
Alex, remedē patient since 2015
“The good feeling you get from this restoring your life is so amazing. The good feeling I have about myself now is enormous. Not having that, you’re missing out on life.”
Larry, remedē patient since 2020
